Equine Science

Course Description: This course is part of the Animal Science Program of Study and is designed to include a concentrated study of horses. Topics covered will include breeds, selection, uses, and other horse-related aspects of the agribusiness industry. Nutrition, reproduction, health and management of horses, and related enterprises will be emphasized. Students have the ability to start working on the requirements needed to earn their Level One Certified Vet Assistant certification, that they then may complete in the Vet Med Applications course.

  • ½ credit, Grades 10-12
  • Required prerequisite (or concurrent) for 10th graders: Principles of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
  • Lab supplies or fee may be required

Course Goals/Objectives: Students will obtain knowledge and skills in relation to the field of Equine through hands on learning experiences. 

Certifications: Fear Free Veterinary Certification - Equine
